Gray Armstrong 1860 US Census

Image shows: Gray Armstrong 75, Wm H. H. 18, Aneliza (Ann Eliza) Worsley 35 (insane daughter), Aquitto? Worsley 12.

The family is living in Edgecombe County, North Carolina, family number 442. Gray is Micajah E. Armstrong's father and Benjamin Christopher Columbus Armstrong's grandfather. Wm H. H. is probably Micajah's son, William H., who was born in about 1842. Aneliza Worsley [Redding Worsley's wife], age 35 labeled "insane" lives in household of wealthy ($30,000) farmer, Gray Armstrong [her father].

1867 - Included in will of Gray Armstrong, "I have this day entered into a contract with Carter Pope to provide for my daughter Ann Eliza Worsley during her lifetime, and I am to pay $175 per annum and he is to receive her share of my estate upon my death." [Ann Eliza Armstrong had married Redding Worsley and was "labeled insane"] Edgecombe County Will Abstracts 1858-1910.
